Biosketch

Jeong-Sik Byeon, M.D. is a gastroenterologist, especially in the field of colonoscopy, small bowel endoscopy, and AI endoscopy. He is a professor of Gastroenterology and the director of Digestive Endoscopy Center at Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea. He graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine. He was the secretary general of Korean Association for the Study of Intestinal Diseases from 2019 to 2021. He also served as the secretary general of the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy from 2021 to 2023.

Dr. Byeon’s research interests are advanced diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy such as colorectal ESD/EPMR and stenting, small bowel endoscopy, colorectal cancer screening and surveillance, and AI endoscopy. He published many papers about these issues in SCIE journals. His clinical researches has led to academic awards in Korea. He also received an award of the Best Reviewer of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in DDW 2017.
